In pursuit of the wild 15mm toy - Episode One

I came across these in the Dollar Tree this morning and figured I'd pass along my findings.

They looked promising in the package. Of course, that is what packing is for. Out of the package, less promising.

The truck and van are both a bit short, though some better wheels might help. The truck I got was also a bit tweaked, and may get used as a wreck instead.

The winners in these packs are the copters, surprisingly.

There were two other sets, in Fire Department red and Construction yellow. The mixture of vehicles in those was less interesting, but the copters and boats (visible in the background) are in all of them. The boats are also vaguely in scale, but have almost no deck space.

Finally, the APC. It is present in both the Military and Police sets, but is a bit... flat.

The APC strikes me as a reasonable candidate for either tracks, an ATV-style 8-wheel conversion, or going to anti-grav. Any of the three can be done to either add height or suggest it.

Trollblood Champions

While I painted these a while back, they have been doing well for me in the Journeyman League, and someone wanted a picture.

We're running the Journeyman "Slow Grow" league at the FLGS at the moment. As a proponent of the idea that you "Paint to Play, and Play to Paint", I'm putting paint on every Trollblood model I own this month, as well as every Minion they can bring along. A few were already painted, such as my Champions and a short unit of Scattergunners, one Warlock (Grissel), and two beasts (a Winter Troll and a Pyre Troll), but now everything else is getting attention. I'll put up pictures as I finish stuff.

Reading again

After someone threatened to run the Dresden Files RPG, I started reading the book series via the SF Book Club editions (I'm not an edition snob). Despite a couple bits of rough going (the beginning of Dead Beat, the first half of Small Favor) they've been fun reads. I'm stalled in Small Favor, but then the game is also stalled...

Pledge update - sorta

2010 finished reasonably well, but 2011 has been a disaster so far, with only two months remaining.

Meh.
